Clear Springs Students Create “Wall of Honor” to Celebrate Veterans

This November, Clear Springs Elementary students came together to honor veterans in a heartfelt way. Led by fourth-grade teacher Lindsay Strot, students filled the school entryway with a stunning Wall of Honor—a collage of photos and stories recognizing the service of veterans connected to their families and community.

Students proudly submitted more than 250 entries, featuring names, pictures and service details of parents, grandparents, neighbors and friends. The display became a powerful visual tribute to those who have served.

“My favorite part of this project has been seeing the incredible veterans right here in our community,” said Strot, whose husband recently retired after 20 years in the Army. “It’s inspiring to see so many people who gave of themselves in service to this country.”

To deepen learning, fourth-grade teacher Angela Campos created a scavenger hunt for students to explore the display and learn more about the veterans honored. Students shared reflections of gratitude, recognizing the sacrifices made to “keep us safe.”

Clear Springs Elementary Principal Curt Carpenter is a veteran of the United States Air Force. “It was an honor to share a space on the Wall of Honor with so many wonderful fellow veterans. I’m grateful to my country for the time I served, and I’m thankful to be a part of a community that honors and cares for others in so many ways,” he shared.

Thank you to Lindsay Strot and Clear Springs Elementary teachers and staff for creating this meaningful experience that connects students to history, service and gratitude.
