Official PSAT/NMSQT* Test will be administered at MHS on October 16, 2019
To be considered for the National Merit Scholarship Competition, students must take the PSAT as a junior. All MHS juniors are encouraged to take the PSAT on October 16, during hours 1-3. This is an excused absence.
Students who qualify as National Merit Semifinalists are notified during September of their senior year, about one year after taking the PSAT/NMSQT. National Merit Semifinalists are highly sought college recruits. In addition to National Merit Scholarships, many colleges and universities offer their own significant scholarships that can amount to thousands of dollars each year, half-tuition, etc.
Sophomores may also take the PSAT test at Minnetonka High School on October 16 (hours 1-3, excused absence) as a practice test before junior year. (The PSAT test taken during sophomore year is NOT considered for entry in the National Merit Scholarship Competition.)
